Dr. T.F. Chen’s “Art for Humanity World Tour 2005-2010”
Exhibits at the Zhu Qizhan Museum, Shanghai
Dr. Chen’s “Art for Humanity World Tour” welcomes visitors at the Zhu Qizhan Museum from Sept 2 – 14th, 2008 with opening date at Sept 6 at 3pm and museum garden party at sept 12 at 7-9pm by this invitation only.

In 2001, the Friends of the United Nations honored Dr. Chen with a Global Tolerance Award and designated him a "Cultural Ambassador for Tolerance and Peace", to honor his "art of multiculturalism and a lifetime of work dedicated to peace, tolerance and love and for creating a body of work expressing a shared vision of humanity." With their blessing, Dr. Chen initiated the “Art for Humanity World Tour” and this year has brought the Tour to China.

After four grand solo museum exhibitions in Beijing, Dr. Chen has now brought this exciting exhibition to Shanghai. From June to August, Dr. Chen held four grand solo museum exhibitions in Beijing at 1) World Museum at the Chinese Millennium Monument, 2) Bridge Art Center, 3) Elements Museum of Contemporary Art, and at 4) 798 Originality Square. As for Shanghai, Dr. Chen will exhibit at the Zhu Qizhan Museum from 9/2 - 9/14.

The contents of the exhibition is composed of three parts: Dr. Chen’s “Salute to the Beijing Olympic Series,” "Humanism Series," and “Temple of Heaven Series.” Dr. Chen’s "Salute to the Beijing Olympic Series" is a powerful tribute of 66 paintings, which creatively illustrates the origins and development of the Olympic Games and celebrates its upcoming hosting in Beijing. His “Humanism Series” concerns themes such as the rich and the poor, East and West, environmental protection, education and culture, etc. Dr. Chen's "Temple of Heaven Series" manifests China's "peaceful arising," and expresses the Chinese traditional cultural value of "wang-dao" -- which emphasizes the concept of kingly benevolence, or "reigning by virtue."

This historical celebration and artistic expression are elements of Dr. T.F. Chen’s signature “Neo-Iconography” style which he initiated in 1969, which is a daring new form of communication that unites East and West, past and present, by organizing and combining familiar "icons" in meaningful ways.

Dr. Chen has conducted more than 200 one-man exhibitions worldwide, and has published over 28 books. Dr. Chen's works are featured in over 300 textbooks, such as the world art history textbook Arts & Ideas; and are collected widely privately and publicly.
