Gust of Wind
Ancient people inhabited mountains and waters where they could rest, dwell and travel, where forests and springs were superb and exquisite, where landscape was dotted with bridges, brooks and houses. In this post-modern era, we are living in an ever-expanding and noisy city, a city of steel and concrete, of skyscrapers, neon lights and heavy traffic. This is a world both realistic and beyond reality; a city both real and virtual--so virtual that we can fantasy; a city we live within and want to overlook all the time; a city full of value and desire where, however, we want to escape from….
Living in the city, we once thought to strive for the great cause all our lives; we once believed we were standing at the forefront of the world and the time, with all the secrets in our grasp; we once promised to stay hand in hand and love each other forever. But, we later found out that colorful and bright flowers always presented a striking contrast to transient youth, resulting in sentiment and blues in our hearts. Greatness and enthusiasm have vanished. However, this is our life.
Our youth, our old dream, the poetic dwelling we had longed for, the rootless drifting life, and our longing for love…, when the gust of wind is rising, are all these still there, in today’s landscape? The reality has concealed our life, while the gust of wind unveils a corner of life, and recalls our old memory.
