“That's How It Is” :JoyArt young artists Invitational Exhibition
After Chinese Contemporary Art experienced many distinct artistic trends, realistic drawing seems to be the new focus following the cartoon generation and the cruel youth style of art.
The coming of the new trend is closely related to the new generation of Chinese wealthy people. Most of these rich people prefer realistic paintings and famous artists’ works. Therefore, we can see that Chinese Contemporary Art had not yet changed, even at the impact of the economic crisis; art in China is still characterized by its leading trends, and still directed by the capitalistic demands. The main reason is that there are not enough non-profit organizations in China to lead a new artistic trend. Of course, this is influenced by the present situation in China, which will not change in a short period of time. But we believe that the establishment of a healthy art environment is based on various factors and collective efforts. Therefore, with the current background, JoyArt focuses on supporting new generation of Chinese Contemporary artists to explore new horizons, discovering artworks with best artistic values, and exhibiting in diverse ways the contemporary societal and cultural perceptions.
In this exhibition--"That's How It Is", the five artists' styles are radically different. These styles are abstract painting, realistic-conceptual painting, textural painting, hand-made painting and material-emphasized painting. These five artists employ their own perception and emotion into their artworks by using their own unique methods to create art. Their passions towards their works are their determination. Their works overflow with ingenious intuition, while at the same time they possess meaning and logical consequences. Therefore, the works show traces of the artists’ individual lives. Each of them is unique and special, looking to innovate in this newest trend in Chinese Contemporary Art.
