As everyone knows, China contemporary art is popular due to its experimental nature and new approach to form. Chinese culture has a very long artistic history, and has encouraged development in many areas , such as traditional painting, landscape painting, sculpture, calligraphy, seal etc.. Currently, China has a very healthy art atmosphere that encourages a combination of traditional and contemporary art. This provides a balance of the historical, contemporary and future providing a perfect sense of balance, as reflected in the Tai Chi
Nowadays female artists play a very important role in each field of contemporary art .Kim Sun is a Chinese female contemporary artist. She lived and worked near Beijing city. Her artwork represents her true identity, power and observation from the surrounding culture and society. She approaches her work and life fulled with energy, she she enjoys singing, and cooking for her friends.Her studio is filled with large canvas and color. She is devotied to her art and maintains a great artistic attitude.
When you look at her canvas, the painting is full of pure and harmonious color with a unique texture.
Her artwork styles focuses on the environment and nature. Many of her subjects are taken from her daily life experiences and her surrounding society and culture providing the viewer with a sense of what she sees, feels and experiences .
Many of her paintings have been inspired from stone, she constantly tried to study the character of stone, its color and texture Her objective is to transfer the same form on the canvas.
Through this behavior she she becomes one with the stone bringing an understanding with stone. Behind this idea she has some personal, religious faith and attachment. Stone has been, since prehistoric times, the principal material used to build and adorn important structures, where solidity and permanence are the paramount considerations, but here we can see how the artist constructs the idea through the stone. How the artist uses it for her personal expression. How the artist relates the the stone on an emotional level.
Fundamentally, the meaning of stones deals with solidity, stability, hardness, bearing a wealth of symbolic meaning; they were used for currency in many civilizations. In Christianity, stone symbolism is heavy or pure -duty. So much so, that both the church, Christ and God are associated with stone. Sometime stone also symbolized as in a wide sense of truth and witness, Stones have signified truth for the reason that the boundaries of the most ancient people were marked off by stones, and that they set up stones as witnesses. According to Chinese symbolism the meaning of stones is linked with yang energy and symbol of longevity. Stone knew for utility, control, support, boldness.
Kim Sun creates a painting with control and boldness. She is very true and pure for self and society like a stone. Her artwork sometime looks like poetry about stone and sometime show artist personal life.
