纽约中国艺术家是一个独特的存在，而“多面”纽约当代艺术展正是力图展现这个群体的多元性-尽管他们共同植根于中国文化。这不仅体现在这8位参展艺术家截然不同的背景上，更多体现在作品的表现手段和媒质上。没有什么能比“多面”更能体现纽约这座城市了——那就是文化的多元和丰富性。

徐唯辛作品

这8位艺术家都出生在中国，深受东方文化之侵染，然后不约而同地选择了纽约作为生活和艺术的重生之地。他们有初来乍到的新移民，也有从小就漂洋过海的老纽约；有功成名就的著名艺术家，亦有初出茅庐的年轻学生。他们有的接受了中国大陆一流美院的严格训练，有的则完全成长于美国的艺术教育系统，也有人东西兼容，得宜于中美艺术教育之精华。

在这样截然不同的背景下，每个人的作品当然就有了极富具个性而又丰富的呈现。这次展出的作品既有比较传统的油画，水墨， 也有利用数码技术制作的多媒体。有抽象也有具象，选择的题材更是千变万化。

徐进作品

“多面”可以解释为多人多面，更多地隐喻了艺术家们作品里折射的文化上的多面性。他们在有意与无意间，凭借着作品在不同程度上反映出多种文化的冲击和影响。所谓“画如其人”，作品必然是艺术家内在精神世界和观点的一个强烈折射，每个人自身文化的烙印都会不由自主地转移到作品之中，每个人的情绪都以不同的方式融入那些变换的色彩和微小的笔触之中。更重要的是所有的作品都讨论了作者的人文情怀和现实社会的某种关联，有的基于自身体验，有的是从容旁观；有的是冷静的反思者，有的则为激昂的呐喊者。

陈向东作品

不同的人群，加上每个人独特的解读，于是就生成了这次不同凡响的“多面”。它和我们所挚爱的城市一样，在多元的这个大框架之下允许每个人都有充分表现自己个性的机会。这就是多面的纽约精神，更是置身其中的当代艺术的精髓和面貌。

"Multifaceted" New York Contemporary Art Exhibition

Introduction

Chinese American artists in New York is an unique existence. "Multifaceted" New York Contemporary Art Exhibition is trying to capture the diversity of their spirit-even though they were all born in China. This is not only reflected in the different background of 8 participated artists, but more reflected in the approach and media of their works. Nothing can be better represented the city of New York than "multifaceted". That is the diversity and richness of culture。

杨华作品

These artists were all born in China with deep influence of eastern culture and invariably chose New York as the place of rebirth for their lives and art. Among them are immigrants and New Yorkers who have lived here since their childhood. There are not only accomplished artists, but also recent college graduates, some of them have been trained in the top art academies in mainland China, while others grew up completely in the American education system and were able to benefit from both systems. With these totally different backgrounds, each work presents a very unique and rich individuality.

盛迅芒作品

The exhibition includes traditional oil painting and Chinese ink, multi-media digital art. They range from abstract to realistic work with ever-changing themes and styles.

"Multi-faceted" can be interpreted as people of many faces, but more of a metaphor for the artist's works in the reflection of the cultural diversity. Intentionally and unintentionally, they reflect the strong impact of a variety of cultural and life experience. The so-called "painting as its artist", the work is a mirror of the artist's inner spiritual world, each person's own culture will involuntarily transferred to their arts and personal emotions will imprint into those transformations of color and strokes. More importantly, all of the works have discussed the connection between the artist’s feelings and the social reality; some were calmly observing or sharply criticizing, while others were angrily protesting.

霍东泽作品

Different people, together with unique interpretation formed this extraordinary "Multifaceted." like our beloved city which allows everyone to have the opportunity to fully express their individuality. This is the multifaceted New York spirit; it is also the essence and the face of contemporary art.

韩沁作品

【策展人简介】：纽约蓝蓝, 真名张兰。本科毕业于苏州丝绸工学院服装设计专业, 获密苏里大学电子媒体设计硕士学位。 目前为界面设计师，艺术策展人，北美中文作家协会会员，忆乡坊文学城创始人/编辑之一。
