1993年毕业于中央工艺美术学院环境艺术设计系，获学士学位并留校任教。2006年毕业于中央美术学院建筑学院，获博士学位。

现任清华大学艺术博物馆副馆长，美术学院教授、博士生导师、院长助理。兼任清华美院装饰材料研究所所长，中国室内装饰协会设计委员会副主任兼秘书长，中国陈设艺术专业委员会副主任；《TINTERNI》中文版主编，《TRENDS》中文版艺术总监。先后担任中国国际金属艺术展策展人、首届北京国际设计三年展组委会秘书长和《创意联结》单元联合策展人、第三届艺术与科学国际作品展组委会秘书长、2013上海国际设计展策展人、2014米兰设计周“中国设计进行时”展览策展人。

设计作品曾参加第五届圣保罗国际建筑双年展、首届中国国际建筑双年展、艺术与科学国际作品展等重要的国际性学术展览。分别获得第九届全国美展金奖、中国室内设计双年展金奖等多项奖励，入选教育部“新世纪人才支持计划”。

作为总策划、总导演与中央电视台合作，拍摄完成大型系列片《为中国而设计—境外建筑师与中国当代建筑》（共18集），该片于2008年奥运会期间在中央电视台播出后，引发了全社会对中国当代建筑设计的广泛关注；2010年，策划中央电视台10集大型系列片《为世博而设计》，该片已成为记录上海世博会优秀建筑从创意到建造全过程的重要文献。

Curator of China International Metal Design Exhibition(2009, Beijing); Secretary general of the organizing committee and co-curator of the First Beijing International Design Triennial(2011, Beijing); Secretary general of the organizing committee and curator of the 3rd Art & Science International Exhibition(2012, Beijing); Curator of 2013 Design Shanghai(2013, Shanghai)；Curator of Designing China(2014, Milan). As general curator and director, in collaboration with CCTV, filmed the major TV series Design for China-Foreign Architects and Contemporary Chinese Architecture(18 episodes altogether). The documentary film was shown on CCTV nationally during 2008 Olympics and aroused wide spread public attention to issues of contemporary Chinese architecture design. Filmed the major TV series Design for World Expo in collaboration with CCTV(10 episodes altogether). The film has become a key record of the top notch of the architecture designs in the Shanghai Expo from inception to construction.
